2021 End of the Year Client Letter

With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season behind us…. I do hope this letter finds you happy, healthy and a bit more wealthy as we finish the year with a fourth consecutive positive year in the equity markets.  I also want to take this moment and extend my sincere thank you for choosing EWM for your financial planning needs.  I understand there are many choices when it comes to professional money management and the continued trust you have in me is the heartbeat of the practice.

Looking back on the year 2021, we continued our theme of pivoting and have two items of big news to share with you:

First, we welcomed our newest EWM team member Nicole Fontana to the practice in June of 2021.  She comes to us from a large health system here in metro Detroit and has caught on fast.  Nicole has been a breath of fresh air as she quickly learned the finance side of client care & her role as a full time Client Services Associate now has her at the helm of client account maintenance.  Donna has been promoted to Operations Manager and now I can focus more on the financial planning side of the practice…where my passion and talents truly lie.

The second is a bittersweet ending to a 20-year EWM tradition: the annual Client Appreciation Dinner and holiday Sanders Chocolates.  These programs were replaced with our education-based Master Class Series that will now better serve clients across the country.  We believe that the gift of education is the best use of our budget allowance and want to encourage you to keep finding the balance between your personal life and keeping current on the ever-changing landscape of personal finance.

2021 also ushered in the trend of the Meme Stock.  Gamification of the stock market exploded….extending into the cryptocurrency world and investors were left trying to learn the new language of Decentralized Finance.  I follow investment trends closely and committed a large part of the year learning about virtual assets (such as Bitcoin, Altcoins, NFTs and Metaverse assets), the Fintech revolution and staying current in the now fast-paced changes in the retirement space.  Even my CFP® Marks are now held securely on the blockchain!  If you would like to discuss how any of these changes impact YOUR financial situation, just give me a call.

On behalf of the local branch here in Michigan, and the home office team in California, we continue to wish you good health and a prosperous new year as we begin our 42nd year as a family-owned financial planning practice.
